Ultraviolet Light Explained

Ultraviolet light is broken down into UV-A, UV-B and UV-C.

UV-C is the only range that kills viruses, bacteria and mold.

Ultraviolet Rays

UV-A:      Used in black lights.  Does not kill viruses.

UV-B:      Kills some viruses with varying results. 

UV-C:      Guaranteed to kill viruses and bacteria. Safer for human skin and eyes.

The graph above is published by Philips Lighting to demonstrate that its UV Bulbs emit mainly 250 nm, which is pure UV-C light.
